By the time the Service Center program was officially up and running, Nintendo had already released their second generation console, the Super Nintendo. Because of this, the life of the NES was slowly but steadilly nearing its end. Regardless, Nintendo offered full support of their original products. Also, with the introduction of the newly designed NES (the Toploader), sales of this console were still going relatively strong. Repair options were offered to the very end, although it was ultimately up to the servicer to decide if they would continue to service them or not.
